Hi, my name is Lily!
I am a Journalism Master’s Degree student at The University of Hong Kong, who is particularly interested in writing stories related to the environment and animal welfare. I choose this field because I think this is a topic that can be easily ignored on a daily basis. It requires longer observation; take climate change or microplastics for instance. It is a rather important topic, however, and I think more people should be writing and educate the public the impact we all have on our environment.
My background is in Communication Studies, with a focus in production and advertising. I have interned at Boston Neighborhood Network, where I gained television and field production experience. I’ve also worked at Edward M. Kennedy Institute, where I polished my skills in editing and graphic design helping out with their social media materials. After I graduated, I went back to my hometown in Taiwan to work in an advertising company as their graphic designer. I learned how to deal with graphics in a more professional way.
During my chapter here in Hong Kong, I have published a video on Hong Kong Free Press and worked on a podcast series with Sustainable Asia on China fishery. I am a fast learner with a can-do mindset. I see every obstacle as a learning opportunity and I work well with others. I am currently taking documentary and data journalism courses, and I am looking forward to apply what I learned to produce a multimedia report on the environment.
